Jackdaws Regard the Ground
----
Birds are a favored photographic subject of mine for both their striking appearances and their connections to spirituality. Most cultures hold birds in high regard for their ability to touch the heavens- it is no surprise that the avian feature of feathered wings became established as the popular image of angels. Christianity, in particular, revers white birds such as the dove as symbols of peace, but shuns the black bird, crow, or raven as manifestations of or bringers of sin, temptation, or evil. Seeing this pair of Jackdaws, then, peering down at the visitors of the ruined Conwy castle chapel captured my imagination.
